Oasis Hallandale - Phase 1

IMG_0711.JPG

Comprised of 5 buildings, Phase 1 of Oasis Hallandale provides retail and office space along the main thoroughfare of East Hallandale Beach Boulevard. The 3 buildings directly on the street frontage are 2 stories tall and the 2 further into the site are single story. All share the same design with large roof overhangs providing shade from the Florida sun.

Structural detailing of these buildings was a challenge to coordinate, especially the roof overhangs. The original structural system was deemed too costly in original pricing and needed to be revamped in concert with the structural engineer. This also needed to be coordinated with some spaces which already had been developed with the final tenant design.

Another challenge in this project was the late addition of a fitness center on the second floor of one of the buildings, replacing the original design of core-and-shell office space. This required the team to redesign this level, accounting for the higher life safety occupancy count for this type of program. I worked directly with our life safety consultants to provide a solution which worked for the client’s programmatic needs while meeting all safety codes.
